Old Hickory Family,
Two Sundays ago, I preached a message on being more intentional in our love and care for each other. My heart's prayer for us as a church is the prayer the Apostle Paul prayed for the Thessalonians when he said, "May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you." (1 Thessalonians 3:12)
I have been overwhelmed with a positive response from you as many of you responded to the call to pray about two people that God brought to your mind that you could be more intentional in your care and concern for on a weekly basis. Some of you may still be praying that God gives you two names, and there are others of you who weren't able to be with us two weeks ago and this is the first you have heard of this. If that is you, please know that we would love to have you participate as well as we seek to better care for one another. If you are interested in participating, I encourage you to spend some time in prayer today and this week asking God to bring two names to your mind that you would like to encourage and pray for on a weekly basis. When God brings two names (or more) to your mind, if you can
email me or text me the names, that will help me as we try to ensure everyone is cared for adequately.
As some of you are starting week two in being more intentional in reaching out to your two, keep in mind that there are several ways to show love and care each week. Here are just a few ways:
- A phone call
- A text message
- An email
- A note or card
- Share a meal together
Our goal is that everyone feels cared for by at least one or two people in our church family on a weekly basis. It's one thing for us to say that we care and another for people to actually feel cared for. May the Lord make our love for each other increase and overflow.
God Bless,
Pastor Tony
